Based on your risk assessment, you will select and implement appropriate security controls from Annex A of the standard. This involves writing policies, deploying security tools, and training staff.

4. Internal Audit and Management Review
Before the official certification audit, you must conduct an internal audit to ensure the ISMS is functioning as intended. Management must also review the ISMS to confirm its ongoing suitability and effectiveness.

5. The Certification Audits (Stage 1 and 2)
An accredited external certification body will review your documentation (Stage 1) and then evaluate your actual practices against those documents (Stage 2) to award the certification.
